Last week, I ran the Spartan Race in Carcassonne and I surprised myself in so many ways.
When my husband signed us up, I was nervous:
🏃♀️ I don’t like running (I usually stick to home workouts)
🎯 It was my first ever sports event
🧱 I wasn’t sure I could manage the obstacles (if you fail, it’s 30 burpees!)
🤒 Plus, just days before, I was still recovering from a nasty cold and had lost my voice
But I didn’t back out, I decided to show up anyway.
So on Saturday, we did it – and my husband kept his word to be my personal supporter and running partner (and he was epic! Thank you, Papa Muscle🥷 ).
I ran. I crossed the lake. I tackled some obstacles, and failed others. I did my burpees – or half of them (thankfully, the marshals let us split them as a team).
I’m covered in bruises and scratches, but I loved every minute. It was tough, fun, and strangely addictive – I’m already thinking about doing another one! And it made me think…
You know that professional goal that feels like a big mountain – intimidating, overwhelming? But then you take the first step… and then another… and suddenly, you’re further than you ever imagined. And it feels amazing.
Sometimes, all it takes is someone beside you – not to carry you, but to cheer you on, nudge you forward, and help you see that you can do it.
So if you’re afraid of speaking up – your voice matters. Speak. It gets easier with practice.
If you want to improve your writing – your thoughts matter. Write. You will get better.
Just take that first step. And keep going.
Oh, and yes – I promised myself a cheat meal if I finished the race. I had it… and it was glorious!
What about you? Any small or big wins lately? And how did you celebrate them?
