Starting an email in French used to take me forever.
I’d sit there, staring at the screen, trying to find the right words.
Too formal? Too direct? Too vague?
I’d rewrite the first sentence over and over.
If you write emails in English, maybe you’ve felt the same.
You hesitate, delete, retype… and before you know it, you’ve lost time.
I found a trick that changed everything.
It helped me stop overthinking and start my emails much faster.
It works in any language.
📌 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟑𝐖𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚: 𝐖𝐇𝐎 – 𝐖𝐇𝐘 – 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓
Before you type a single word, ask yourself:
1️⃣ 𝐖𝐇𝐎 are you writing to? (manager vs. a new client)
↳ Decide how formal your email should be.
2️⃣ 𝐖𝐇𝐘 are you writing?
↳Be clear about your purpose.
3️⃣ 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 do you want from the recipient?
↳ State the action to take clearly
Example: Rescheduling a Meeting
✅ 3Wh Formula:
Hi [Manager’s Name], → Manager : address them directly and professionally.
Can we reschedule our meeting on [date]? → The main reason.
Let me know your availability. → Action to take.
Why does this work?
✅ Quick
✅ Clear
✅ Direct
